First the power, then the allure. The SL 63 AMG brings both together with its 8-cylinder AMG engine producing 386 kW (525 hp), and 630 Nm. A power that is transferred by the new AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, which combines the spontaneity of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic. Fascination is ensured, by the vehicle’s muscular forms. Its AMG bonnet and AMG spoiler lip at the rear impress upon the viewer the image of a super sports car. An AMG sports exhaust system with its two twin chromed tailpipes round off this image. The SL 63 AMG stands firmly on new-design 19-inch triple-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels. Behind the front wheels the AMG high-performance brake system with composite discs and 6-piston brake callipers can be clearly seen. And their action is just as powerful as the impression they produce – in true AMG style, designed for maximum performance.
Exterior
A low seat position, a grand feeling. The eye wanders over the long front stretch of the roadster. The powerdomes hint at the power that lies beneath. Whether with 6, 8 or 12 cylinders, a slight movement of your foot is all it takes shoot off, leaving metres of road behind you. And for everyday life, the SL shines not only due to its handling but with new design elements such as side louvres in the body colour – in a silver finish for the SL 600. With an even sportier design for the front and rear assembly and exclusive paint finishes. New attractive wheels round out the look and make for a complete sports car that you won't want to let go of before setting it loose.
Interior
Even the needles on the dials of the newly-designed instrument cluster are as dynamic as a drive in the SL – as soon as the ignition is switched on they swing out vigorously: the new 3-spoke steering wheel features gearshift paddles: one at each side of the steering wheel. With them you can shift gear particularly swiftly. On request, direct steering is available, too. It offers, in addition to the steering assistance of the standard speed-sensitive steering, an even more direct steering ratio for urban driving and driving in tight bends.
But it isn’t only the technical fine points of the new SL that fascinate. Laterally reinforced integral seats, upholstered in leather, nappa leather or nappa exclusive leather, invite you to get in. Add to this the electric seat adjustment and the standard memory function (optional for the SL 280), which stores seat settings for up to three vehicle users and moves the driver’s seat to the desired position at the touch of a button. The lumbar support, also standard, can be filled with air and supports the spine. And, so that even middle-to-fair weather does not manage to dampen your high spirits, a seat heating is also installed ex works – and in the SL 600 and SL 65 AMG models, climatised seats as well.
Cockpit
The place where what you say goes, the cockpit, is characterised by sporty elegance: it features a newly-designed 3-D-look instrument cluster in chronometer style. Its leather-style trim is embellished with fine topstitching, while the new-look 3-spoke sports steering wheel sits perfectly in the sporty surroundings of the SL cockpit. Shift paddles are included as standard for the SL 600 and are an optional extra for all other models.
Seat comfort
In order that even on long journeys, your back gets all the support it needs courtesy of the laterally reinforced integral seats in the SL. Whether you are taking tight bends resolutely or cruising serenely along, you are always in the optimal sitting position. Another reason for this is the meticulously crafted seat material available in a choice of leather, nappa leather or Exclusive nappa leather. With the electrically adjustable seats you can alter your position with ease. The memory function (optional for the SL 280) stores the preferred settings. A flick of the wrist is all it takes to move the seats to the desired position. It’s equally good to know that the standard-fit lumbar supports are behind you: these can be inflated or deflated at the push of a button to provide optimum support for the lower spine. When the weather turns colder, you’ll also be pleased that the SL 500, SL 600 and AMG models feature heated seats as standard. Even the most unpleasant weather conditions cannot spoil your driving enjoyment. The SL 600 and SL 65 AMG also have climatised seats fitted as standard, for pleasant cooling on extremely hot ദയ്സ്.
COMAND and COMAND APS
The new, standard-fit COMAND multimedia system on board the SL groups together entertainment and navigation functions in one central unit. Optional navigation functions and films are shown at eye level on the generously-dimensioned 6.5-inch colour display. It is even possible to watch television here if the optional TV receiver is specified. The 6-disc CD/DVD changer for audio or video is within easy reach, while an optionally available media Interface allows COMAND to connect to any USB data source, an iPod or AUX-IN – for example, to play music or videos from an external hard drive. The optionally available COMAND APS system features an integral hard drive containing the navigation software - thus leaving the CD drive free for alternative uses - and 4 GB of memory for audio files in MP3 or WMA format. And thanks to LINGUATRONIC, COMAND APS hears and obeys voice commands, with which the radio and the telephone can be controlled.
SL 65 AMG
The SL 65 AMG is responsible for causing the most exhilarating sensations. Powered by an AMG 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine with an output of 450 kW (612 hp) and a peak torque of 1000 Nm, the SL 65 AMG is one of the world’s most powerful series-production roadsters. Extremely impressive performance is also the name of the game when the AMG high-performance braking system kicks in, with composite brake discs measuring 390 millimetres in diameter at the front and 360 millimetres on the rear axle. The SL 65 AMG is clearly recognisable from afar on account of its 19-inch AMG twin-spoke forged wheels and the front-apron crossmember painted in matt silver. Then there are the AMG side skirts and an AMG rear apron. Two twin tailpipes featuring AMG V12 styling give the rear of the car an effortlessly superior air. And the performance clearly hinted at on the outside is matched by the level of exclusivity inside: the interior is appointed in fine Exclusive nappa leather featuring an AMG V12 diamond design. Along with the AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel with aluminium shift paddles and the AMG RACETIMER function in the AMG instrument cluster, genuine carbon-fibre trim elements underline the sporting credentials of this unique roadster.(SL 63 AMG: fuel consumption combined: 13.9 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 330 g/km; SL 65 AMG: fuel consumption combined: 15.1 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 362 g/km)[1]
SL 280, SL 350, SL 500 and SL 600
The only thing you might find difficult about the SL 350 is to calmly ignore it. Its 6-cylinder engine provides 232 kW (316 hp) and when the accelerator pedal is depressed, with its 360 Nm it makes its pulling power felt at once. From zero to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds – the sports engine awaits you with its 3,498 cc displacement and has enormous power reserves under the bonnet. Thanks to a higher compression ratio and the new cylinder head with optimised inlet port, improved air supply and airflow, there are practically no limits for driving enjoyment. And the environment also benefits: it was possible to reduce consumption and CO2 emissions significantly.
For those for whom motoring pleasure includes enjoying a fine sound, the SL 500 is a particular treat for the ears: with its unmistakable baritone voice, the vehicle displays its talent. 285 kW (388 hp) and a maximum torque of 530 Nm sling the SL 500 from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 5.4 seconds. In order to achieve these values, a special cylinder head was designed for the V8 engine: every pair of intake and outlet valves is controlled via continuously-variable camshaft adjustment, enabling an optimum combustion process. This reduces fuel consumption and pollutant emissions, but above all, it increases the engine’s power.
The icon of driving refinement – the SL 600, is extremely versatile. With its twelve cylinders, 380 kW (517 hp) and a maximum torque of 830 Nm it can speed from a complete standstill to 100 km/h in breath-taking 4.5 seconds. The V12 engine draws its power from a combination of two turbochargers and an intercooler. A consummate blend of sophisticated Mercedes-Benz engine technologies makes for outstanding response, maximum torque at low revs and, in addition, low fuel consumption. So a healthy balance is maintained – with a healthy dose of happiness hormones. Because whoever or whatever falls behind as you power ahead in the SL 600, you can be sure that it will not be your driving enjoyment.

7G-TRONIC
Acceleration without an interruption of tractive power: that’s the dream that inspires our Mercedes-Benz engineers to work on the development and perfection of new automatic transmissions. With 7G-TRONIC they have advanced far in their quest to reach this objective: the seven forward gears of the 7G TONIC transmission make possible smaller intervals from gear to gear than ever before. And when moving down through the gears, the multiple downshift capability allows several gears to be skipped at once, making for extremely powerful acceleration in any gear.
The 7G-TRONIC transmission is specified as standard for the SL 280, SL 350 and SL 500. These three models also come with the option of the 7G-TRONIC Sport, which allows manual gear changes as well via steering-wheel gearshift paddles. If you keep the paddle pressed when shifting down, the SL will automatically select the gear from which the best acceleration is possible. The SL 63 AMG is fitted with the new AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, which changes gear in record time without any interruptions in tractive power. In the SL 65 AMG you switch to full pulling power with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 5-speed automatic transmission. And in the SL 600 a 5-speed automatic transmission ensures optimum power output. For driving enjoyment of the highest level.
